We are honored to provide sleep apnea treatment for veterans through the TreatOSA4VA program, part of the VA Community Care Network (VACCN).
This program allows veterans to receive care from qualified local providers when services are unavailable at a VA facility or when wait times are long.
Our office works with VA referrals to provide custom oral appliance therapy for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the airway becomes blocked during sleep, causing breathing to repeatedly stop and start throughout the night.
Common symptoms include:
Loud snoring
Daytime fatigue
Morning headaches
Difficulty concentrating
Restless sleep
Gasping for air during sleep
Many people do not realize they have sleep apnea, even though the condition can significantly impact health and quality of life.
Through the TreatOSA4VA program, we provide Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) for veterans diagnosed with sleep apnea.
An oral appliance is:
A custom dental device worn during sleep
Similar to a retainer or mouth guard
Designed to gently reposition the jaw to keep the airway open
Benefits include:
Comfortable and easy to wear
Portable and quiet
Non-surgical and drug-free
Effective alternative for patients who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy
Veterans typically receive treatment through the following steps:
Visit your VA provider
Your VA doctor evaluates your symptoms and may schedule a sleep study.
Receive a sleep apnea diagnosis
If sleep apnea is confirmed, your doctor will recommend treatment.
Request a referral to a TreatOSA4VA provider
Your VA healthcare team can refer you to an approved community provider.
Receive your authorization letter
The VA sends authorization for community care.
Schedule your appointment
Our office will contact you to schedule your consultation once your referral is received.
Oral appliance therapy is often preferred by patients because it is comfortable, portable, and easier to use consistently compared to CPAP therapy.
Consistent treatment can improve:
Sleep quality
Energy levels
Concentration
Overall health
Treating sleep apnea may also help reduce risks associated with conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.
If you are a veteran and have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, ask your VA healthcare provider about a referral to our office through the TreatOSA4VA program.
We are proud to serve veterans in our community and help improve sleep and overall health.
